Activities
Japanese Language Learning Support Training (2025)
Japanese class volunteers have the opportunity to participate in yearly skills development conferences in order to improve their teaching methods. This year it was held twice, with themes related to how to teach complete beginners.
The first day’s lecture was presented by Professor Fumi Noguchi of Gunma Prefectural Women’s University. The second day was split between Kaoru Yamamoto & Noriko Arai (current volunteers) and CIR Alex Takahashi, the latter who presented on learning Japanese from scratch as an adult.
Japanese Language Learning Support Training (2024)
Japanese class volunteers are given opportunities to hone their skills with yearly training sessions. This year’s sessions will take place over 3 dates, each with a different topic. The first one brought volunteers from different classes together to share advice and find new resources over light refreshments.
Japanese Language Learning Support Training
Japanese class volunteers are given the chance to participate in yearly training to further their skills, and better understand how to approach teaching Japanese as a second language.
In fall 2023, training took place over 2 seminars. The 1st was led by current volunteer Mr. Oya, who presented various materials (including ones handmade by himself) that have proved useful in the classroom. The 2nd was led by Mrs. Hoan Thao, a Vietnamese national who teaches with G Community, an NPO located in Isesaki.
