Online consultations with the One-Stop Consultation Center for Foreign Residents of Gunma

Online consultations in foreign languages are now available via Messenger on Facebook with the One-Stop Consultation Center for Foreign Residents of Gunma.

How to consult online:

1) Search for “Gtia Gunma” on Facebook and make a friend request

2) Use Messenger to send “Request for an online consultation”, together with a message stating your language (Japanese, English, Vietnamese, Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese)

3) Center staff will check the message and reply via Messenger

FRESC Help Desk Multilingual Consultations

The FRESC Help Desk now has a telephone hotline dedicated to helping foreigners who are having problems in their daily life because of COVID-19. Information on welfare services, visas, and remaining in Japan is available in 14 languages.

Hours of operation: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (closed on weekends and public holidays)

MIG Medical Interpreters Gunma

Medical Interpreters Gunma (MIG) dispatches medical interpreters in response to requests from medical institutions, public health centers and individual patients.

From September 2020 to September 2021, the service is FREE for foreign residents, thanks to the generosity of funding provided by The Mitsubishi Foundation and the Central Community Chest of Japan. 

Interpretation fee: 4,000 yen for two hours (as a general rule)

(The patient pays 2,000 yen, and the remaining 2,000 yen is covered by the medical institution or MIG)  ※Totally free until September, 2021.

Safety App for Visitors & Residents in Japan

 

“Safety Tips” is a push-enabled information alert app which informs in real time about earthquakes, tsunamis and other weather warnings in Japan. The app is available in 14 languages including English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. The app provides various functions useful for both foreign tourists and residents in Japan, such as an evacuation flowchart showing actions to be taken in the event of different emergency situations, communication cards for obtaining information from the people around you if you don’t speak Japanese, and website links that contain helpful information in the event of a disaster.

Measles/Rubella Vaccination for Children

 

Takasaki offers free of charge the MR vaccination that is effective against measles and rubella, to children who are 1 year of age, or who are in the year before starting elementary school. From April of the year a child starts school, a fee is charged for the vaccination so please check your child’s vaccination record and be sure to get the shot. Consult your pediatrician in advance to find out what is required. Please contact the TIRS office (details below) for English information about children’s health.

 

Reporting Urgent Matters to the Police/Fire Department

 

Dial 110 (hyaku touban)

If you are involved in an incident or accident, or if you see or hear anything requiring police attention, please call 110. Calls made to 110 in English are immediately connected to an English-speaking third party to enable a three-way conversation. You can make your call without having to worry about misunderstandings!
